In yet another wave of terror in Kaduna State, at least 61 locals, including women, children, and a nursing mother, were reportedly abducted on Monday in Buda community, Kajuru Local Government Area, by heavily armed bandits.

A survivor of the attack, speaking with reporters, described the situation as devastating, revealing that there has been no contact with the victims since their abduction.

“We have not heard from them since the incident happened on Monday. We’re appealing to the government to take action and ensure their return immediately,” he pleaded.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the assailants stormed the community in large numbers, shooting sporadically before herding their captives away. One of the locals, whose siblings were among the kidnapped, urged the authorities to boost security presence in the area.

“As of this morning, the bandits and their victims have yet to reach their destination. This shows they may still be moving them through the forests,” he said.

The Kaduna State Police Command has yet to issue a statement on the latest abductions.

200 Students Kidnapped in Chikun LGA

The Kajuru abductions come on the heels of another horrific incident in Kaduna’s Chikun Local Government Area, where bandits attacked the Kuriga community and kidnapped over 200 students, along with some teachers, from LEA Primary School Kuriga.

According to a local source, the attack happened around 8:30 am while the students were gathered for morning assembly.

“The bandits surrounded the school from different angles, preventing any escape. They then moved both primary and secondary school students to an unknown location,” the source said.

The latest mass abduction underscores the deteriorating security situation in Kaduna State, with residents calling for urgent intervention from security agencies and the federal government. The attacks also raise renewed concerns over the safety of students and schools in the region, reminiscent of previous large-scale abductions by terrorists in northern Nigeria.
