A former vice chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Nuhu Yaqub, has died at the age of 73.

He died in Abuja after a brief illness.

The death was confirmed by the university in a terse statement shared on Facebook.

“The University of Abuja mourns the passing of our esteemed former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nuhu O. Yaqub, OFR ( 2004 -2009).

“Yaqub passed away this morning in Abuja, after a brief illness at the age of 73.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. May Allah grant him jannat ul firdaus, ameen.
