Movement of cargo trucks resume at Lebombo Border Post

The movement of cargo trucks has resumed at the Lebombo Border Post between Mozambique and South Africa.

The processing of trucks had been interrupted this week by protests in Mozambique.

Mozambican opposition supporters say the October general elections results were rigged in favor of the ruling Frelimo Party.

MEC for Community Safety Security and Liason in Mpumalanga, Jackie Macie says the trucks are being escorted by their Mozambican counterparts once they cross the border.

“Partially, they’ve opened for the cargo to move. We are processing them, I think, in the batch of 15 … we started in the morning. We have taken 15 and some are back. We are doing it continuously. We are hoping that maybe when the day goes by or even tomorrow, we’ll open that fully so that they will move as normally as it should be,” says Macie.
