January 04, (THEWILL) – Barcelona have suffered a significant setback after La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), rejected their request to re-register both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season.
The Spanish giants encountered difficulties when the initial registrations for both players expired on December 31. Despite attempts to generate the required financial resources, Barcelona were unable to meet the deadline for re-registering the duo under league regulations.
The club’s management had previously indicated confidence in finding an alternative solution. However, both governing bodies have now formally dismissed Barca’s application, citing specific regulatory frameworks that prevent such re-registrations within the same season.
In their official statement, La Liga’s Budget Validation Body acknowledged Barcelona’s compliance with financial control requirements on January 3. However, the subsequent analysis by the Monitoring Committee resulted in the denial of both temporary and permanent licenses for the players, based on articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the RFEF General Regulations.
The regulations explicitly state that once a player’s license is cancelled, they cannot obtain another license with the same club during that season. This interpretation leaves Barca with limited options, potentially forcing them to seek resolution through legal channels.
