Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for Real Madrid in their 3-1 victory over Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League knockout playoff.

The game played on Wednesday night at the Bernabeu saw the French star inspire the defending champions to a comfortable victory and place in the last 16.

Pep Guardiola’s side were attempting to reverse a 3-2 deficit from the play-off first leg but a 4th, 33rd, and 61st minute goals from Mbappe sealed it for Real Madrid despite Manchester City
Nico González’ consolation in added time.

Elsewhere, PSV Eindhoven produced a superb performance against Juventus to overturn their first-leg deficit and book a spot in the last 16.

The Dutch giants had lost 2-1 from the first leg in Turin but put up a show at home with Ivan Perisic and Ismael Saibari netting either side of a stunning Timothy Weah strike to make it 3-3 on aggregate in normal time.

Ryan Flamingo then scored an extra-time winner to send PSV to the round of 16 of the competition in Juve’s stead.

PSV’s progression means they will face either Arsenal or Inter Milan in the last 16.

In the other games played on Wednesday night, Dortmund and Sporting settled for a goalless draw in Germany, with Dortmund scaling through on 3-0 aggregate win. PSG hammered Brest 7-0 to complete a 10-0 aggregate victory.

The round of 16 draw takes place from on Friday.
