January 02, (THEWILL) – Thomas Tuchel commences his role as England manager this weekend, beginning with observations at the English Premier League fixture between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager, who accepted the position in October 2024 following Gareth Southgate’s departure, officially started his tenure on January 1.

His primary focus at the weekend match will be monitoring the performances of Tottenham midfielder James Maddison alongside Newcastle players Dominic Solanke, Anthony Gordon, and Lewis Hall.

The England Football Association released details regarding Tuchel’s support staff on Thursday, confirming Henrique Hilario’s appointment as goalkeeping coach.

The technical team includes Nicolas Mayer, who previously collaborated with Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, serving as performance coach. James Melbourne joins the group as a team analyst.

The German manager’s first competitive fixtures arrive in March, with England hosting Albania on the 21st and Latvia on the 24th at Wembley Stadium.
