As Nigeria welcomes the New Year, 2025, several governors and leaders have extended their warmest greetings to Nigerians.

Anambra Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, expressed his earnest congratulations, stating that 2025 brings refreshed hope and unprecedented opportunities for transformation in Anambra. He highlighted the signing of the 2025 appropriation bill, which marks a significant milestone in building a livable and prosperous smart mega city.

Soludo also announced the launch of “Operation Udo Ga Chi” (Operation Peace Shall Reign) after January 25, which will deploy over 200 security vehicles across the state for enhanced surveillance and stop-and-search operations. Additionally, he offered an amnesty window until the end of February 2025 for repentant criminal elements in the state.

Gombe Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, emphasised the importance of resilience and collective efforts in building a state and nation characterized by peace and prosperity.

He expressed confidence that 2025 would usher in brighter days for Gombe State and Nigeria.

“As we enter this new chapter, let us build on the lessons of 2024 and remain steadfast in our commitment to peace, progress, security, and development.

“Despite the current economic hardship, we must not despair. Our collective strength lies in our ability to rise above challenges and work together toward a brighter future,” Gov Inuwa Yahaya said.

Former Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa of Sokoto State urged authorities to take decisive action against insecurity, particularly the menace of banditry.

He expressed concern over the recent threats by a notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji.

“The ultimatum given by Bello Turji, demanding the release of his in-law arrested by security agents, is deeply worrisome and should not be taken lightly,” Bafarawa stated.

Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa of Edo State encouraged the people of Edo State to enter the New Year with hope, unity, and progress.

He assured that the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration remains committed to the well-being and prosperity of the people of the state.

“Happy New Year to the good people of Edo state. As we step into this new chapter, I urge us to embrace hope, unity, and progress. May this New Year bring prosperity, joy, and fulfillment to every home and to our dear state.

“Be rest assured that the present administration led by Senator Monday Okpebholo remains committed to the wellbeing and prosperity of Edo State and its people.

“Ours is not to lament on the present situation of things in our dear state but to take advantage of the endless possibilities that abound to change the narrative for the betterment of the people.

“The Governor’s commitment remains to put the needs of the state and its people above personal or political differences.

“Let us continue to work together to build a brighter future for our state.

“God bless you. God bless Edo State, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
