Arsenal target Morgan Rogers could command over £100m fee from Aston Villa

Arsenal’s pursuit of Morgan Rogers
Arsenal has identified Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers as their primary attacking target for the summer transfer window. An approach from the Gunners is anticipated, though formal club-to-club discussions have not yet commenced. Aston Villa has indicated an unwillingness to sell the player, who signed a new contract in November, extending until 2031.
The potential transfer fee for Rogers is estimated to exceed £100m. This valuation is influenced by recent midfield transfers, including deals for Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested in the 23-year-old.
Rogers recorded 14 goals and 11 assists in 55 appearances for Aston Villa last season. He joined the club from Middlesbrough in 2024 for £16m and has since earned 21 caps for England. During the 2026 World Cup, he made five appearances, providing an assist to Anthony Gordon in England’s semi-final defeat to Argentina.

Player versatility and other transfer interests
Arsenal’s interest in Rogers is partly due to his versatility, with the club reportedly considering him for a wide attacking role. Approximately 45 percent of his Premier League minutes last season for Aston Villa were played as a left winger. His career has seen him deployed in various positions, including as a winger for Lincoln City and occasionally as a false nine or centre-forward for Middlesbrough.
In other transfer news, Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah, 34, is reportedly set to join Besiktas in Turkey. Manchester United are reportedly interested in Nottingham Forest wing-back Neco Williams, 25, who can operate on both flanks. Real Madrid is reportedly interested in Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, 24, who is said to be open to a move to the Bernabeu.
Tottenham rejected a £46m bid from Newcastle United for 20-year-old midfielder Lucas Bergvall. Chelsea may need to spend £55m to acquire Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, 26, this summer. Celta Vigo midfielder Ilaix Moriba, 23, has been offered to several clubs, including Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, and Hull, with a potential availability for around 20m euros (£17m).
Bayern Munich has granted 31-year-old midfielder Joao Palhinha additional time before returning to the club, with Aston Villa reportedly interested. Tottenham is also interested in signing winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham, who may be available following West Ham’s relegation. Tottenham’s summer signings could lead to the departure of some players, including defender Cristian Romero, 28.
Manchester United and Newcastle United are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 22-year-old midfielder Hugo Larsson, though neither club has made an offer. Juventus offered 6.5m euros (£5.5m) for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, but Villa is seeking 12m euros (£10.2m). Juventus is reportedly leading the race for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun, 25, with Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland also showing interest.
Arsenal maintains interest in Julian Alvarez, but a deal appears challenging due to the player’s family preference to remain in Spain and his reported desire to join Barcelona. Arsenal also retains an interest in PSG’s Bradley Barcola, alongside Liverpool, though no club-to-club contact has been made. PSG is actively trying to sign winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and also has interest in Alvarez and Rogers.
