Marcus Rashford’s £40m Manchester United exit clause expires - The Athletic - The New York Times

The exit clause for Marcus Rashford at Manchester United has expired, meaning any potential transfer will now require direct negotiation. The clause was not applicable to United‘s primary rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool. Rashford, who is contracted at Old Trafford until 2028, spent the previous season on loan at Barcelona.

During his loan spell, Rashford made 49 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona, where he contributed 14 goals and 14 assists. Barcelona had an option to make his move permanent but chose not to exercise it. His role at Barcelona is now expected to be filled by Anthony Gordon.

Future at Manchester United

With the clause now expired, Manchester United faces a decision regarding Rashford‘s future. Reports indicate that United aims to arrange a transfer for the 28-year-old forward before their pre-season training camp in Dublin in August. However, there are also plans in place to reintegrate Rashford into the squad under Michael Carrick.

Sources familiar with the situation have stated that Rashford has previously declined several proposals, some of which were financially more appealing than his current contract. Fenerbahçe is reportedly interested in initiating official negotiations with Manchester United for Rashford. If United is receptive, discussions with Rashford himself are expected to intensify.
