April 07, (THEWILL) – The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, have summoned a crucial meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee following last week’s Supreme Court judgment sacking the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee.

According to a notice jointly signed by Obi and Otti, the NEC meeting is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Abuja. It will also feature an interactive town hall session with key stakeholders and party structures.

Expected at the meeting are the party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, serving and former senators, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, as well as ex-lawmakers. Also invited are members of the dissolved National Working Committee, the current National Caretaker and Transition Committees, former governorship candidates still loyal to the party, and representatives from the NLC/TUC Political Commission.

The meeting is expected to address the party’s leadership transition and chart a new course following the apex court’s verdict, which nullified Abure’s claim to the national chairmanship.
