February 25, (THEWILL) – The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has appointed Oba Oladipo Olaitan as its new leader, following the passing of Pa Ayo Adebanjo on February 14, 2025.

In a statement issued after its monthly general meeting at Isanya Ogbo, Ogun State, Afenifere acknowledged Adebanjo’s contributions to nation-building and extended condolences to his family. The group noted that Oba Olaitan would serve as Acting Leader until after Adebanjo’s final burial, after which he would officially assume the role.

The statement, signed by Afenifere’s Secretary-General, Chief Sola Ebiseni, and National Publicity Secretary, Justice Faloye, said the appointment was based on recommendations from the National Caucus.
